Oregon Facebook Primary 8-21

8-30-2021

As of August 15, 2021, Dr. Bud Pierce is still the most popular contender for Governor. The least popular Republican candidate for Governor is Bridget Barton, despite her monumental fundraising haul. Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler is the most popular Democratic candidate, while 2018 Independent Party of Oregon nominee and former McKenzie School Board member Patrick Starnes is the least popular Democrat.

Republicans

With 3 months of data available, average monthly growth can now be calculated. Baker City Mayor Kerry McQuisten has the fastest-growing following on social media, soundly winning Facebook with average new monthly page likes exceeding 1,150, and over 60 new followers monthly on Twitter. Paul Romero is still the most popular Republican candidate on Twitter, while Alsea School District Superintendent Marc Thielman is the least popular. Interest in Romero's candidacy seems to be decreasing, however, as his profile has seen an average monthly change in Twitter followers of -4.

Democrats

Public interest in Yamhill County Commissioner Casey Kulla continues to grow, granting him the prize of most new Twitters per month on average. Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum, on the other hand, seems so absent from the discourse about potential Democratic candidates for Governor that her average monthly change in Twitter followers is -0.5.

Commissioner Kulla has seen the greatest net growth in Facebook Page Likes at 77, followed by Mayor Wheeler at 74. Attorney General Rosenblum, meanwhile, has seen a net change of -34 followers.
