Oregon Facebook Primary 10-21

10-21-2021

Dr. Bud Pierce has finally been upstaged as the most popular candidate on Facebook following the formation of a political action committee by former New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof. Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler has also changed the architecture of his Facebook page's following, bouncing him ahead of Dr. Pierce (some Facebook pages allow Likes and Followers, or Followers only; Mayor Wheeler's page eliminated the Likes and now only has Followers. The Facebook Primary has always counted just Likes when a page has Likes). A wild card has also entered the race in the form of Democratic Senator Betsy Johnson, who will run as a nonaffiliated candidate.

Twitter Followers

Kristoff is the only candidate to have more than 1 million followers on any platform, a legacy of his popularity as a journalist.
