Alex McHaddad announces Mayoral campaign

3/11/20. Alex McHaddad filed to run for Mayor of La Grande in March 2020. A city resident for 6 years, McHaddad moved to La Grande in 2014 to attend Eastern Oregon University, and decided to stay to pursue a career in local government administration. He currently works as the Executive Director of Blue Mountain Translator District, a local government special district providing telecommunications services in Union and Baker Counties. McHaddad additionally utilizes his background in telecommunications, legislative affairs, and political campaigning as a public affairs consultant for clients in northeast Oregon. Since 2018, he has been a news anchor on Eastern Oregon Alive TV's News Roundup.

"I was originally inspired to run for Mayor because I believe that the City of La Grande needs to improve its snow removal policy," said McHaddad. "Working in the county government offices, I regularly see important arterial routes become dangerous for middle school children, EOU students, and public employees who serve Union County. As Mayor I hope to promote improvements to the City's snow removal policy, promote transparency, and make the Hub of Northeast Oregon the best place in the region to do business. My work managing Blue Mountain Translator District, including writing agency budgets, conducting elections, maintaining public records, and passing historic telecommunications legislation in Salem has prepared me to provide an informed perspective serving as the presiding officer of the La Grande City Council."

McHaddad is proud to endorse and be endorsed by Denise Wheeler for City Council position #2 and Dr. David Glabe for City Council position #3. He looks forward to discussing community issues with voters before the November 3, 2020 election. Community members can learn more about McHaddad's platform and contact him at www.alexfor.us.
